Rejected again? Here’s what you can do differently.

In this quick, insightful post about human potential, I share bits on how job seekers can make themselves more attractive during this tough employment season.

To my fellow job seekers, there is no doubt that the COVID-19 pandemic has worsened the employment situation for us (as if getting employed was easy to begin with).

Your application may get rejected several times by several companies and it will definitely get frustrating. This is where I encourage you to try a different approach to make yourself more attractive to the employer. Don’t wait for the employer to ask! Seek out ways to showcase your unique skills and abilities, outside just the standard resume and cover letter.

You can start by devoting your time to understanding the entire foundation and structure of the company you’re interested in.

  • Play to your abilities and try coming up with the next innovative idea for the company!

    OR

  • Provide a solution for an area that you think the company can develop on!

Give them your own analysis of their business and share ideas on how the company can further develop themselves.

Recruiters often ignore identical messages from candidates, but pay attention to the ones that are unique and innovative. This will show them that you are going above and beyond in showing your passion for the company.

Inspired by my own interviewing experience, it will surprise you what the outcome can be. The hiring system built in the early 20s is failing us, causing employers to miss out on people with incredible potential. You may be overlooked at first, but go ahead to prove your critics wrong with your abilities.
